Over Woonboot Watergeus, Houseboat

The historical centre of the academic city of Leiden is encircled by an old canal. Along the whole canal a stretched-out park has been developped. The canal house-boat is situated on an inside curve with views of the water and park. The front door is reached via a little bridge. In the hallway there is a door to the left leading to an intimate workspace or you can walk through into the living room with corner sofa. From here the terraces on the water can be reached. You can also go up a couple of stairs to the very charming open kitchen with table and chairs, a library and a piano. Downstairs are a double bedroom and a single bedroom with large single bed. The bathroom is beautiful and luxurious. This canal boat-house is a charming home-base to get to know historical Leiden with its National Antiquities Museum, National Museum of Folk arts, Museum Boerhaave, the Leiden City Museum and Naturalis: the National Natural History Museum. The listed city-center with its many canals, lanes and courtyards is one of Holland's best kept secrets. Noordwijk and Katwijk with their beaches and sand dunes are 25 minutes away by car, or (even better) 45 minutes by bicycle.
